Schizophrenia with Chronic Kidney Disease: A Case Report

Abstract
Schizophrenia is a common, chronic, and severe mental disorder. The vulnerability-stress-inflammation model helps to explain the role of inflammation in schizophrenia, where stress might increase pro-inflammatory cytokines, contributing to a chronic pro-inflammatory state. Behavioral factors, such as smoking and obesity in schizophrenic patients, contribute to physical problems. Pharmacotherapy, together with psychotherapy, are playing an essential role for patients with schizophrenia who also suffer from a physical disease so that patients can live a maximum quality of life.
