Fibroadenoma in Axillary tail of breast: A case report

Abstract
Introduction: Fibroadenoma, a common benign disease of the breast but rarely reported in the Axillary tail of Spence, can be totally cured by surgical intervention. However, malignancy is the most commonly diagnosed entity at this site and a clinician must be vigilant regarding any axillary lump management. Case report: A 42-year-old housewife presented with a painless lump in right axilla since 2 years which was diagnosed to be fibroadenoma with the help of clinical examination, ultrasound and FNAC and was treated successfully with lump excision. Conclusion: Fibroadenoma of the axillary tail is an important differential diagnosis which must be kept in mind during evaluation of any axillary lump in a female. Pathological conditions suspected in the axillary tail should be subjected to similar evaluation techniques and diagnostic screening as the breast.
