The influence of nurse communication aspects on pregnancy visit knowledge in hospitals, Medan City

Abstract
The anxiety of family with a family member who is admitted to the hospital is caused by the fear of death, especially in the intensive room. The other causes are unsuccessful medication, complications, and cost problems. Because of it, nurses must have the ability to apply therapeutic communication techniques to overcome the anxiety of the family patients. This type of research was analytical survey research with a sample size of 30 people with the sampling method, namely total sampling using a questionnaire. The results of the study showed that the therapeutic communication variable had a relationship with the level of family anxiety of patients at the hospital in Medan obtaining a significance value (probability) of 0.000 (p <0.05). Psychologically, a nurse is able to be a "medicine" for patients because the nurse is always close to the patient to carry out care services and provide information about the patient's condition. It can reduce the patient family's level of anxiety. For this reason, nurses should improve therapeutic communication with the patient family to reduce the patient family's anxiety level. Hospitals in Medan should supervise the implementation of nurse therapeutic communication with the patient family who is hospitalized in NCU.
