Abstract
Le syndrome des jambes sans repos (SJSR) est considéré comme un trouble neurologique sensitivomoteur. Il a été rapporté de manière plus fréquente dans certaines maladies neuro-dégénératives. L’objectif de notre étude est d’évaluer la fréquence et les caractéristiques du SJSR au sein d’une population atteint de sclérose en plaque (SEP), et son retentissement sur le sommeil chez les patients atteints.
C’est une étude transversale à propos de 80 sujets atteints de SEP et suivis à l’hôpital du jour du service de neurologie du CHU HASSAN II de Fès, basée sur un questionnaire comprenant les critères diagnostiques du SJSR (IRLSSCG), ainsi que 2 échelles internationales : échelle de sévérité (IRLSSCG) traduite en arabe dialectale afin de faciliter le questionnaire aux patients et l’échelle Epworth pour la somnolence diurne. Ces 2 dernières ont été appliquées pour les sujets ayant répondu aux critères de diagnostic. Les critères diagnostiques du SJSR étaient réunis chez 13 patients (16.3%) ce qui est un pourcentage assez élevé, qui doit nous pousser à chercher et prendre en charge ce syndrome qui rentre dans le cadre des co-morbidités de la SEP. Nous proposons qu’un SJSR soit recherché chez les patients atteints de SEP dans l’objectif d’améliorer leur qualité de vie. La reconnaissance de ce syndrome peut faire envisager une thérapeutique spécifique.


Abstract:
Restless legs syndrome (RLS) is considered to be a sensorimotor neurological disorder. It has been reported more frequently in certain neurodegenerative diseases. The objective of our study is to assess the frequency and characteristics of RLS in a population with multiple sclerosis (MS), and its impact on sleep in patients with it. It is a cross-sectional study about 80 subjects with MS and followed at the day hospital of the neurology department of CHU HASSAN II in Fez, based on a questionnaire including the diagnostic criteria of the SJSR (IRLSSCG), as well as 2 international scales: severity scale (IRLSSCG) translated into dialectal Arabic in order to facilitate the questionnaire to patients and the Epworth Sleepiness Scale. These two scales were applied for subjects who met the diagnostic criteria. The diagnostic criteria for RLS were met in 13 patients (16.3%) which is a high percentage, which should push us to seek and manage this syndrome which falls within the framework of co-morbidities of MS. We propose that RLS be sought in patients with MS with the goal of improving their quality of life. Recognition of this syndrome may lead to specific therapy being considered.
