Paraganglioma of cauda equina. Report of case

Abstract
Paraganglioma is a neuroendocrine neoplasm composed largely of paraganglion chief cells. The most common site of paraganglioma is the adrenal medulla, carotid bodies and glomus jugular. Recently molecular characterization of CNS paragangliomas identifies cauda equina paragangliomas as a distinct tumour entity.
Paraganglioma of cauda equina are very rare. Since the first case of cauda equina was reported in 1972, about 296 cases have been reported up to 2019. The clinical findings are not specific. Magnetic resonance imaging is the exam of choice. On MRI iso or hyperintense on T1-weighted images and isointense on T2-weighted images with serpentine vessels have been highlighted as a hallmark of this tumour.
A case of paraganglioma of cauda equina documented with MRI and confirmed with immunohistochemistry is reported.
