A case report of large left iliac wing chondrosarcoma with diaphyseal aclasis

Abstract
Chondrosarcoma is a primary malignant bone tumour derived from the cartilage cells. The pelvis is a common site of involvement. Osteochondroma is a common benign bone tumour and shows a bony outgrowth that grows away from the adjacent joint. Hereditary multiple exostosis/diaphyseal aclasia is an autosomal dominant condition characterised by multiple osteochondromas. Neoplastic transformation of the diaphyseal aclasis is rare, and only a few cases of pelvic chondrosarcoma with diaphyseal aclasis (hereditary exostosis) have been reported in the literature.
In this case report, we describe a case report of a 32-yr-old female; who had diaphyseal aclasia and presented with pain and a lump in the pelvis adjacent to the left iliac region. Based on imaging, a provisional diagnosis of pelvic chondrosarcoma was given. The patient then had surgery, and on histopathology, well-differentiated chondrosarcoma was established.
