A Practical Guide to Musculoskeletal Disorders for Non-Medical Professionals: Diagnosing and Managing Bone, Joint, and Muscle Diseases of Non-Traumatic Origin

Abstract
Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are prevalent among individuals engaged in physically demanding activities, especially in remote or expeditionary settings where medical care is limited. This guide provides non-medical professionals with a practical approach to diagnosing and managing MSDs of non-traumatic origin, including joint inflammation, muscle strains, and arthritis. The aim is to equip expedition leaders, tour guides, sailors, and outdoor activity coordinators with knowledge and tools to recognize symptoms, apply appropriate interventions, and determine when medical referral is necessary. The guide emphasizes conservative management strategies, preventive measures, and practical decision-making in environments with restricted access to healthcare. By implementing these guidelines, non-medical professionals can contribute to pain relief, disease prevention, and overall musculoskeletal health preservation in remote settings.
