Drug utilisation review in nonmetastatic breast cancer in a tertiary care teaching hospital

Abstract
Background & Aims: Breast cancer is one of the most commonly found cancer among Indian women. Rational therapy plays a major role in the treatment of breast cancer patients1. The risk of breast cancer is alarming, especially in developing countries like India. The purpose of this retrospective study was to review the drug use of patient with breast cancer in a tertiary care teaching hospital. Methodology: The present drug utilization study was conducted on breast cancer patients attending a tertiary care teaching hospital. Results and Discussion: This study was a single-centre interventional retrospective study carried out on a group of 384 breast cancer patients at the Clinical Oncology Department. Results of this study indicated that the given therapy in this study adhered to clinical guidelines and improved patient outcome. Summary and Conclusion: So, with this study, we are able to realize the treatment pattern for breast cancer patients in the selected study setting.
